Strategy and Planning | Services & Experience
I help leaders communicate the value of their work and explore partnership and funding options to grow their impact.
Turning Data Into Action
1) I led all research and writing of two Watershed Action Plans now approved by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality per US EPA guidelines. This involved interviewing subject matter experts and incorporating their input into reports, as well as summarizing data in maps, tables, and graphs. These plans enabled clients to get buy-in and funding from their town boards to implement watershed restoration projects.
2) I led a stormwater infrastructure inventory project for Siler City, NC. This involved doing fieldwork, managing a contractor, conducting a public input survey, and communicating data and impacts to grantors, clients, and maintenance staff. The recommendations that I presented led to the client joining the Clean Water Education Partnership and investing in capacity to maintain the town’s stormwater infrastructure.
Organizational Strategy and Program Development
1) While managing North Carolina’s Clean Water Education Partnership (CWEP), my outreach and communications about the program’s value yielded five new members who contribute $20K in additional annual revenue. This enabled us to hire additional part-time staff support.
CWEP is a group of over 40 local governments who for the past quarter century have contracted with my (previous) employer to provide public education about water quality. With input from our steering committee, I managed all aspects of our organizational strategy, staffing, and finances, including ways to meet goals at lower cost and effort.
2) I assisted with a strategic planning process for the North Carolina State Climate Office’s ECONet program, which manages their statewide network of weather monitoring stations.
How could I help you turn your ideas into realities?
